No Pain, No Gain

I was just thinking about this quote and how Ray Dalio had mentioned how he began to see failure and pain as a way of measuring his movements towards success. Indeed pain is very necessary for the vast majority not born with a golden spoon in their mouth. Various elements of life have been made artificially more difficult to accomplish.

Just like when you exercise, you need to overcome a certain barrier of weakness and experience stress to advance to greater levels of endurance. If you knowingly put yourself in stressful situations and try to maintain your calmness this can also be very helpful. Overtime this peaceful response will become second nature.

The same thing goes for fears.

Horror! Horror has a face, and you must make a friend of horror. Horror and moral terror are your friends. If they are not, then they are enemies to be feared. They are truly enemies.
